I've made blogs on here before, mostly about concerts and visual-kei. This time I'm gonna talk about fashion! I've lived in Japan for five years, and I think everyone who comes to Japan will find that their fashion changes drastically, for various reasons. For one, girls here dress up every day. Even if they're just going to class, the supermarket, the post office, etc. I would say not all the time, but about 70 or 80 percent.
Let me start off by saying... I don't proclaim to be a fashion expert. I just see something on someone else and think... hey that's really cute!
So basically, I started off by imitating the fashion that I would see on girls here, or in the stores.
My first foray into Japanese fashion was Harajuku. I was more into fashion like... Wego or Spinns. Basically any of the stores on Takeshita Dori that are more "loud" colors.
Here's an example.. not really any loud colors (except for the Japanese girl next to me lol) but I really liked long shirt dresses or long sweaters at that time. I have since realized they're not really for me... I still love polka dots. I also loved leggings at that time. Still do. What was I thinking with the blonde hair though...
That was when I was studying abroad, so about... 6 or 7 years ago?
Here's two of my most recent pictures.
As you can see, my fashion changed a lot!
I like how fashion is always changing.
For bigger girls like me, it's sometimes hard to find clothing in Japan that fits well. Free size basically ends up just being tight. Which is okay, cause sometimes it looks more sexy that way ^^ But sometimes it's frustrating. And I just wanna say, if you're in the same boat as me, don't let it get you down, and you can still do gyaru fashion if you want! It's important to know how to dress to flatter your shape!
Unfortunately I'm going to be leaving Japan soon.. That's why I wanted to start documenting my clothes from Japan to keep me motivated to keep being stylish even after I go back to the US.
